A collection of thoughts, opinions, experiences and observations that approximately 10 people in this world will ever read or care about. Hell, I don't care about some of the stuff I write about. Worst case scenario is that this will be a good way for friends to keep in touch with me for the next 10 weeks as I embark on a new career that will be extremely time-consuming. They probably prefer this mode of communication to seeing me anyway -- much lower maintenance.

Sports Fans

I have to rant about this. As you all know, I go to Haas -- Berkeley's business school. That means there are tons of students who go to the football games -- it seems like everyone is a Cal Bear fan. Why does this bother me? I really have no idea. It makes sense that the alleged "Cal fans" who went to schools with D-I football teams would be maddening to me -- after all, your loyalty is to your undergrad. Beyond that, you can't have 2 flippin' teams!! In any sport -- it's like having two wives. You have one team. One. Period.

What perplexes me is that I even get agitated at the fans who now claim Cal as their team -- after all, if they went to a small Podunk school, it makes sense that they'd cheer for Cal. But it still bothers me. Basically, I have discovered that people who mindlessly cheer on teams without knowing anything about them irritate me tremendously.

I'm probably just pissed b.c UCLA plays Cal this week and they'll likely wax us. At least we'll beat their ass in hoops -- of course, then those "die-hard Cal" fans won't be found anywhere.

There, that is my diatribe for the day.

A man can have many loves in this life and what sports teams they root for. I went to UW and they are my first love, but I've lived in the Bay Area off and on for thirty years, therefore I'm a CAL Bear fan. I'm also a UH fan and I've even been a member of their Alumni Association without ever going to the school. My sis went to UDub and her husband went to Wazoo for vet school. My niece went to UCLA and as parents, they pull for the Bruins.
